Developments in the Concentrator Photovoltaic (CPV) area have been extensive in the past few years, fueled by the efforts of innovative companies contributing to all aspects of this emerging, advanced photovoltaic technology. Today CPV has reached the stage of commercialization and is able to deliver on its promise of low-cost, reliable solar-generated electricity. While it is still a young technology compared to some solar approaches, CPV has tremendous headroom for efficiency improvements and manufacturing cost reductions. With the rapid emergence of CPV, there is a growing need to put into place a proper foundation and infrastructure to support the CPV industry.
The CPV Consortium is an international industry organization that meets this need by supporting the development and long-term success of the Concentrator Photovoltaics industry with the goal of providing a low-cost, reliable source of renewable energy. The CPV Consortium is the instrument though which the various participants in the industry can collaborate to ensure Concentrating PV systems attain their complete market potential. Since its introduction in mid-2007, the Consortium has welcomed many new members who have helped enable the rapid development of CPV as it moves toward becoming a mainstream energy source.
We welcome you to utilize this website as a tool through which you can better understand the industry and its participants, as well as be a source for information related to CPV. We welcome your comments and inquiries.
